DEPARTMENT OF POLITICAL SCIENCE

The subject of Political Science is very close to Humanity ever since, the Homo sapiens started leading a settled life and started organising themselves into primitive version of state. Thus the teaching the subject adds a lot of moral, social, psychological, constitutional responsibility on the part of the teacher. The Department of Political Science ensures that these responsibilities are fulfilled as and when possible without compromising with the syllabus specified by the University.

The Department of Political Science has always given importance to student oriented learning within and outside the classroom. Emphasis is laid on the understanding of the subject from the point of view of the syllabus and the subject as well, which will in the long run help the students take up higher studies in Political Science and the allied courses.

Special focus in laid on student participation, in the learning aspects. The subject of Political Science offers a vast scope for Teacher Student interaction. Thus, discussions, debates become an important part of day to day learning.

INITIATION

The Department of Political Science was established in the year 2017 along with the foundation of the College in 2017.

The Department of Political Science deals with several branches of Political Science for the Undergraduate Students in the BA stream. In accordance with Choice Based Credit System, new papers have been introduced through the University. Apart from regular papers, the Department also deals with Skill Enhancement Course and General Elective papers along with self designed Certificate Courses for the students.

The Department has actively conducted several academic programmes like seminars, presentation, project works, field trips, flipped classes, quiz programmes, in order to bring in an overall understanding of the subject of Political Science. Apart from academic activities, the Department of Political Science actively participates in several curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.

Book Exhibition

          Each Academic Year, the college conducts a book exhibition during the Library Week celebrations. The Department of Political Science actively participates in the Book Exhibition         and ensures that various books on Political Science are exhibited. Students are introduced to new books in the field of Political Science along with books for Competitive exams.

Debates

Debate is a platform that helps students in enriching their views and perspectives. It is through which skills in research, critical thinking, organization, persuasion, comradeship, teamwork, and communication can be developed effectively.  Keeping this in view, our college, TTWRDC (M) Kamareddy has conducted Debates on various topics to broaden and deepen the mindset of students and make them competent in all aspects.

Department of Political Science encourages students to participate in the Debate League organized by the College. The students are given guidance on the important ideas related to the topic of the Debate well in advance so that the students can confidently participate. Mostly, it is the students from BA who actively participate in the Debate League and make the programme lively and educative as well.

Quiz Programmes 

The Department o Political Science actively conducts Quiz Competition for the students of Political Science and others as well. Online and offline, intra class and inter class quiz competitions were organised by the Department. This encourages students and keeps them thorough with the preparation on various topics of general importance.

Quiz on Books and Authors

Department of Political Science in collaboration with all the faculty conducted a Quiz exclusively on books and authors as part of the Library Week during the Academic Year 2019-2020. This quiz was designed with the objective of introducing the best selections across all the times and places. The questions were asked on Indian literature, world literature, historical and scientific books, biographies and autobiographies, inspirational books, and best sellers. Four teams representing the four groups of the college participated in the quiz and the MPCS group won the first prize. Overall the quiz programme was a great journey through the world of great books and their celebrated authors.

Online Quiz:

Education in India took a new turn during the year 2020 marked by Corona Pandemic. Online became the new mode of learning and teaching. Apart from regular classes, several online activities were conducted. An online Quiz was conducted on Indian Political Thought during the first week of December, 2020. The quiz was open to all the students and staff across several colleges in the State of Telangana along with our sister institutions, the Telangana Tribal Welfare and Social Welfare Degree Colleges. E Certificates were awarded to the students.

Faculty and Students of the Department of Political Science enthusiastically participate in conducting various programmes on important National and International Days. Various online or offline competitions are held to celebrate the birth anniversaries of Important national and international personalities. The Department of Political Science takes keen interest in celebrating significant national and international days.

Certificate Courses

The Department of Political Science has designed two Certificate Courses and keeps offering the same time and again to the non BA students.

  • Buddha and His Philosophy

Field Trips

Field Trips are another learning programme taken up by the Department of Political Science to give the students a firsthand experience on the various burning issues of the contemporary period. The Department of political Science organises Field Trips for the students of BA to understand the various problems and learn to analyse the problem.

PG Entrance

The Department of Political Science has undertaken the coaching of the students for various Entrance Tests for the Post Graduation Programme in Political Science. This coaching is conducted for the final year students who are interested in doing PG in the Subject of Political Science.

Indian Polity is an important part of the syllabus in Political Science. This topic is an essential component of various competitive exams like Civil Services, Group I and II, SI and Constable Entrance exams. The department of Political Science tries to make students thorough in Indian Polity for these exams. The subject is dealt with in the Classroom in detail keeping in view the importance of the subject for several competitive Exams. Personal Guidance is provided to the students along with material support.

Results:

Our students gave outstanding performance and secured PG seats in prestigious Universities like, Delhi University, Benaras Hindu University, Pondicherry University and Osmania University.

Project Works

 

The Department of Political Science encourages students to do some Project Work. The final Year students with good interest in the subject of Political Science and bent of mind towards research are encouraged to do some research work.

Every year, the Department encourages the students to do Research Projects. These research projects provide for an out of the box perspective about the subject of Political Science.

Seminars/Webinars

 

 

Covid 19 had been a tough period for the education sector. However, some students were determined to study even during the lockdown to ensure that they don’t waste much time and keep themselves engaged in the learning process.

A 14 days, ‘online extension lecture series’ was arranged by TTWREIS and all the students of BA II years from among the Tribal Welfare Degree Colleges were pooled under one faculty per subject. Classes were conducted through Microsoft Teams App, using Powerpoint Presentations.

Seminars by Faculty:

The Faculty of Political Science arranges Seminars for Students on Important topics of Political Science. These seminars are either conducted within the College or in collaboration with Faculty of Political Science from other Colleges.

Student Seminars and Presentations:

Students are given an opportunity to give seminars on their chosen topics usually from the syllabus. This gives them an additional grip on the subject and ensures that they get acquainted with the subject better through these seminars. The Department of Political Science encourages them to utilise the digital infrastructure and give Power Point Presentation.

POLITICAL SCIENCE RESOURCE CENTRE:

Department of Political Science has established a Resource Centre in the College (January 2021). However, due to the insufficiency of rooms, in the college, it has been established in BA  classroom.

Sri Shobhan, Inspector, Intelligence, Kamareddy, inaugurated this and encourage students to study and utilise the various opportunities provided by the institution.
