Botany, also called plant science, plant biology or phytology, is the science of plant life and a branch of biology. A botanist, plant scientist or phytologist is a scientist who specialises in this field.

The purpose of the laboratory component of the course is several-fold. It reinforces the material you have learned in class and it gives you a chance to apply your knowledge. You will learn some important experimental techniques that are necessary.

Our botany laboratory is well equipped with a compound microscope, Binocular microscope, a Dissecting microscope, Many permanent slides, plant specimens from different regions, Chemicals required to perform different experiments like Cobalt chloride method, Estimation of protein by biuret method, Paper chromatography -  separation of pigments. All the experiments related to all the three years can be performed very effectively. Students who enter the laboratory will be happy to see the live results of transpiration, chlorophyll pigments, the specimens which will be studied in the books.
