Career guidance cell (CGC)
Guides the students on the basis of their needs and priorities in Education, Employment, and Entrepreneurship. It aims to provide assistance and advice to students to make them powerful and better informed so that they can become architects in building their own future. It helps the students to realize strengths and weaknesses by instilling awareness, decision-making skills, planning skills, personality development, etc.
Functioning and Outcomes related to CGC
The idea of ‘Career Guidance Cell’ is to provide a platform for students seeking guidance, pertaining to higher education, employability and entrepreneurship (EEE). The programs conducted under CGC help the students to stay abreast with the latest notifications and other opportunities, putting into use their well-earned skills and interests for the betterment of themselves and the society.
Details of CGC: The unit consists of a Coordinator, an Assistant Coordinator and four members from different streams (Sciences, Mathematics, Computer Sciences, and Business Administration) in the college. The details are as follows-

Functioning of the cell:
Career Guidance Cell is one of the policy decisions provided by UGC XI plan to establish a centre at college/university level for assisting students in realising their potential and training them to nurture these potentials to match with the available careers. It aids the students benefit at higher level and match them to appropriate careers available locally and nationally. The career guidance cell provides relevant academic and career information to enable students to make informed decisions along the way.Our focus is to provide learning/training opportunities in the areas of academic, career and personal/ social development and to prepare students to meet their future challenges.The Career Guidance Cell provides commendable services in areas of Campus Interviews; Job Placements and training programmes for our students that enable them to develop applicable skills in the competitive job market.The Cell also organizes Workshops and Seminars on Personality Development, Interpersonal Relationship, Communication Skills, Interview Skills and Presentation Skills to enable the All Round development of individuals.Eminent resource persons from various sectors and esteemed institutions are invited for providing training to the students.
The CGC is established with the following main objectives:
- To conduct Bridge Programmes for freshers to develop communication skills.
- To organize and offer various programmes on Personality Development, Soft Skills and Communication Skills.
- To conduct a survey among students on their career options and create awareness about the importance of higher studies.
- To assist/counsel students to map to the available careers based on their potentials, aptitudes and interests.
- The students will be assisted in understanding their potentials. This can be accomplished through:
a) The psychometric tests specially designed for graduate students which would state the aptitudes and potentials in degree level with regard to each student.
b) Counselling by the Faculty or Professionals to understand their potentials.
- OrganizeCGC lectures and workshops by:
- Experts/Professionals from Companies
- Professors/officials from Universities
- Experts from Training Institutes like Mahindra Pride
- Alumni of Gurukulam well placed in their careers. (To effectively make use of Alumni Network, who have gone abroad for higher studies, to periodically motivate and guide our students).
- To organize training and exams for the competitive exams such as CUCET, CPGET, HCU, CAT, GRE, IIT JAM and to counsel them for higher studies.
- To organize Pre-placement Training Programmes / Mock interviews to enable students to showcase their skills during the Interview.
- Providing training through e-registration. All the interested students go through e-registration for TASK where the students are provided trainings in their interested fields.
Education
- The students are encouraged to pursue higher education in reputed universities and institutions across the world.
- The faculty counsel and fortify students to apply for organisations such as TISS, Azim PRemji University, BHU, Central Universities, IIT’s, NIT’s, INU, DU, etc.
- All the required information regarding applications and future opportunities are clearly shared with the students using media such as news paper clippings, emails, etc.
- The faculties train the students on a daily basis following a strict schedule. A two-hour session per day is followed, accompanied by a test on the weekend. The papers are corrected and discussed with the students and suggestions are made.
- The students are also provided with study material, mock tests, previous entrance question papers etc from the library.
- The students interested in higher education in Physical education are assisted and trained as required.
Outcomes:
- Two students visited Nepal and Egypt for 45 days as a part of AISEC program. They were assigned a project there which they successfully completed and submitted their report.
- Fourteen (13) students were selected for M.Sc/MA at OU, TU, MGU and other colleges.
- Two (2) students were selected for PG Microbiology at Bangalore University.
- One (1) student got selected for MBA at HCU.
- Eight (8) students got selected for B.Ed.
- Seven (7) students got selected for B.P.Ed.
- Four (4) students cleared the first round of selection for TISS and will be attending the further rounds for admission.
Employability
- The students who are interested and in need of employment after graduation are identified and trained accordingly in their field of interest.
- These students are informed regularly of the career opportunities, eligibility criteria, and selection procedures.
- A one-hour session every day is religiously allotted for guiding students for employability.
- The students are trained in four aspects- General English, Arithmetic and Logical Reasoning, Soft skills and MS Office.
- Group discussions, Mock interviews, JAM Sessions, mock tests, etc are conducted to equip students for the interviews,
- Guest lectures and motivation classes are also organised to motivate the students.
- The students are also provided with computer and internet accessibility to improve their computer application skills.
- One week of interactive training session was held in the college by Mahindra Tech Pride classrooms focussing majorly on communication, soft skills, facing interviews, etc.
Outcomes:
- Eighteen (18)students were selected for various jobs in a program conducted by UNDP.
- Five (5) students got selected for various jobs and undergoing training.
- Students also participated in various walk-interviews held by local organisations.
Entrepreneurship:
The Entrepreneurship Development Cell aims at teaching the students marketing strategies, encouraging aspirants and providing opportunities to use the skills achieved.
Outcomes:The students set up a small mall in the college premises and made sales of a few things.
Projects: The students were taken to the local market to see how businesses are set up and done.

Primary objective of CGC is to provide the much-needed Life skills to students and to help them find employment, higher education, and entrepreneurship.
EDUCATION: This wing encourages students to pursue higher education in reputed universities, and institutions across the world.
We conduct subject-wise PG coaching classes to the III-year students from 4:00 to 5:00 pm.
We conduct weekly tests and monthly grand tests to evaluate students’ progress and gain confidence to face the entrance exams.
The corresponding material, test papers, previous entrance questions papers and placed in the library for others to refer.
The required information and guidance regarding these opportunities are shared with the students via displays, Newspaper clippings, emails, etc.

- Seventeen students from the college were selected to attend spark institution, Nagaram for intense coaching for Higher education.
- One student has been selected for HCU MBA group discussion and personal interview.
- Sandhya BZC III year went to Nepal in the year 2019 and B. Sony MPCs II year to Egypt this year for AIESEC program.

EMPLOYMENT: Organised 100 hours coaching from 3.00pm to 5.00pm on Arithmetic and reasoning, communicative English with the help of Oxford Elevate book. Soft skills and basics and usage of computer.
To inculcate reading habit among the students and to develop creative thinking and imagination, library period is scheduled from 2.00 to 3.00pm.
We conduct Mock interviews, JAM sessions to overcome fear. Organised debates, group discussions and impromptu sessions.
The students are provided with Internet accessibility to improve their computer application and awareness. Students are assisted in creating and utilising their email accounts.UNDP Team has visited our college conducted a psychometric assessment on 14.02.2020. Organized spell wise online career counselling to 278 students.
UNDP conducted an online internship on Cloud computing for II MPCs students and drug designs in pharma companies for 18 students of II and III-year MZC and BZC students.
ENTREPRENEUR: We guide the students about Digital marketing, Govt schemes, start-up’s, and small-scale business.
Niraman organization - Niraman vidya helpline team has visited our college counselled students on Employment and Entrepreneurial opportunities.
Nandi Foundation has imparted a week training program. Demonstrated the value of creating New social entrepreneurs by setting up a social business.
Focused not only on practical assessment but, also on classroom learning assessment, English language proficiency, and soft skills.
LIFE SKILLS PROGRAM
As part of the Life skill 360 program, 16 students were selected from our college and trained by experts. The trained students were then sent to teach life skills at Mini Gurukulas. The students also shared their knowledge in their thandas and villages. This program helped to boost the confidence level of our students and made them believe in themselves. They proved that they are no less than a trained teacher.
