- Understanding fundamental concepts, principles and processes underlying the academic field of chemistry, its different sub fields (analytical, inorganic, organic and physical) and its linkages with related disciplinary areas / subjects.
- Demonstrate the procedural knowledge that created different types of professionals in the field of chemistry and related fields such as pharmaceuticals, chemical industry, teaching, research, environmental monitoring, product quality consumer goods industry, food products, cosmetics industry etc.
- Employ critical thinking and the scientific method to design, carryout record, and analyses the results of chemical experiments and get an awareness of the impact of chemistry on the environment and society.
- Use chemical techniques in industry generic skills and global competences, including knowledge and skills that enable students to undertake further studies in the field of chemistry or a related field and work in the chemical and nonchemical industry sectors.
- Undertake hands on lab work and practical activities which develop problem solving abilities required for successful career in pharmaceuticals, chemical industry, teaching, research, environmental monitoring, product quality, consumer goods industry, food products, cosmetics industry etc.
- Understand safety of chemicals, transfer and measurement of chemicals, preparation of solution and find out the green route for chemical reaction for suitable development.
- Create an awareness of the impact of the chemistry on the environment, society and development outside the scientific community.
- Realize the interdisciplinary link among various fields of science.
- Study the impact of chemicals on the environment, particularly in relation to plant and animal ecosystems.
- Understand how chemical pollutants affect plant growth, animal health, and ecological balance.
- Gain proficiency in using various chemical analysis techniques (e.g., titrations, spectrophotometry, chromatography) to determine the composition of biological samples (plant/animal tissues).
- Encourage independent research that involves exploring chemical solutions to biological problems or innovations in bio-chemical fields.
- Understand the chemistry behind key biomolecules such as carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids, focusing on their biological significance.
- Investigate the molecular interactions in cellular processes, including protein folding, enzyme function, and genetic material replication.
- Promote understanding of sustainable practices in chemistry, with a focus on green chemistry, reducing chemical waste, and understanding sustainable practices in agriculture and ecology.
