  • To know about functional groups of carboxylic acids niro compounds, amines, cyanides, isocyanides,

      their preparations, properties and applications.

Physical Chemistry - III

  • To get a knowledge of basic concepts of thermodynamic properties, nature of changes and the first law of thermodynamics. They can also apply this law in various systems undergoing different thermodynamic process to evaluate various thermodynamic properties such as heat, mechanical work , change in enthalpy, change in internal energy etc. of the system and also able to explain the thermochemistry of the various chemical processes. CO 2.
  • Will first learn the need and the various statements of the second law of thermodynamics and new thermodynamic functions such as entropy, Gibbs free energy, Gibbs-Helmholtz etc. are also introduced to them. From these thermodynamic properties they get knowledge regarding the random behaviour of the system and most importantly the criteria of spontaneity and equilibrium. They will also learn the various important thermodynamic relations, various partial molar quantities, dependence of thermodynamics parameters on composition etc

  • To learn about evolution of analytical data errors, significant figures and precision.
  • About carbanions active methylene groups, synthesis of various organic compounds through those compounds.

  • This paper is an Advance Studies on theories and applications such as CFT, MOT, molecular symmetry and magneto-chemistry, HSAB principle,

Applications of coordination compounds.

  • Known the biological significance of essential elements, micro and macro elements.

Learnt about heamoglobin and myoglobin functions and oxygen transport in the body.

Learnt about photosynthesis and chlorophyll structure and electron transport in light reactions from water to NADP+

Organic Chemistry - IV

  • Comprehend the preparation, properties, structure and importance of carbohydrates (mono-, di- and polysaccharides). Learnt the conversions of one saccharide to preparation of other saccharide.
  • Know the essential amino acids synthesis and peptide synthesis and applications.
  • To understand the 5 membered heterocyclic compounds synthesis, reactivity, aromaticity and properties of compounds.

  • Determine the chemical kinetics laws of  rate of reactions, rate constants. To learn the factors effecting of rate of reactions, First, second, third and pseudo order reactions.
  • To know about the photo chemical reactions, laws of photo chemical reactions, quantum yield, jablonski diagram of electronic excitation and consequencies.

  • To learn the bonding in metals in solids, different theories of solids, conductivity, properties and different type of conductors, n, p, semi and super conductors.

Molecular spectroscopy-V

  • To understand the spectroscopy molecular spectroscopy, IR, Rotational and UV spectroscopy.

To learn the from rotational and IR  bond length, dipole moment will effect frequencies of functional groups,  from UV spectroscopy will know the chromophores, auxochromes, conjugation in molecules, from UV spectroscopy values can study unknown organic molecules.

NMR and MASS SPECTROSCOPY-V

  • To study the NMR spectcroscopy of unknown organic molecules. The NMR spectra of 1HNMR  and values, to find out the no. of protons, multiplicity for indentifying the unknown organic molecule.
  • To learn the molecular ions, isotopic peaks, base peaks,fragment ion peaks, representation of mass spectra, nitrogen rule, identifying the molecular formula and identifying the unknown organic molecule based on above studies.

Seperation Techniques-I-V

  • To know the methods of solvent extraction, batch, counter extraction, batch extraction for separation of  mix of organic compounds.
  • To learn the chromatographic techniques for separation of organic reaction mixture.
  • Thin layer chromatography is useful for separation and identifyingdifferent compounds from the organic reaction mixture through Rf values on TLC plate.
  • To learn the Paper chromatography is useful for the separation  of mixture of amino acids and proteins. Development of chromatogram ascending, descending, radial chromatograthy methods.

  • To learn ion exchange chromatography Prinple, instrumentation, cation and anion exchange  resin used for column and its applications.
