ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of English, Telangana Tribal Welfare Residential Degree College of Devarakonda, in  Nalgonda District established in 2017  to make higher education accessible to the diversified social groups hailing from poor economic background in the region. The Department of English has so far completed 6 years of time serving basically as a font of knowledge to the rustic rural young in the vicinity. As English has become language of opportunities, the department is using available technical aids to improve communication skills among the students.

 

Participate in different co-curricular, extra-curricular, intra-inter collegiate events to showcase their talents and enhance their integrity. The Literary club was established in 2017 and has progressed. Department of English attempts to offer an inexorable curriculum added with knowledge driven activities for both academic and professional excellence of the students. Keeping in mind the need for career development for students, English and Communication Skills were taught. 

 The Department of English has been in existence since the inception of this college in 2017.

Department started its journey with B.Sc with the combination of Mathematics, Physics and Computer

Science, Botany Zoology& Chemistry, B.A & B.Com. In 2022 the combinations were upgraded with Choice based credit system(CBCS) with combination of Statistics, Data science, Chemistry and Economics. 

VISION

  • To provide a strong foundation in English through quality teaching.
  • The mainstay of the vision of the Department of English is to offer students adequate communication skills to prepare them for their professional needs in the globalized scenario prevalent today.

MISSION

The Department has taken upon itself the mission of working zestfully and resourcefully to impart the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing to students.

  •  Fear of English in students.
  • Lack of international and national publication of books and journals.
  •  Absence of collaboration with reputed institutions.
  •  ​​​​​​Teacher student ratio is very high.

  • Extra classes can be organized for various students who want to study more of the advanced subjects which will prepare them better for further studies.

CHALLENGES

  •  To drive out the fear of English in students.
  • To inculcate research aptitude among faculty and students.
  • Encouraging students for higher studies and competitive exams.
  • Applications for major and minor research projects.
  • Student-teacher ratio is unexpectedly high at the UG level.
  • The online mode of teaching posed an initial challenge with respect to training the faculty for online teaching platforms and maintaining student discipline.
