The National Cadet Corps (NCC) in India, established under the National Cadet Corps Act of 1948, traces its origins to the "University Corps" instituted by the Indian Defense Act of 1917, aimed at addressing the shortage in the Army.In 1949, the Girls Division was established with the aim of offering equal opportunities to school and college-going girls.During the 12th CAC meeting on October 12, 1980, "Unity and Discipline" was chosen and declared as the motto for the NCC. Upholding this motto, the NCC endeavors to serve as a significant cohesive force in the nation, uniting youth from diverse regions and shaping them into disciplined and unified citizens.
