Program: Bridge Course for BSc I Years

The Department of Statistics has Bridge Course for the Bridge Course for the learners of first year BSc (Statistics).

Objective: To help the students to nderstand basic statistics concepts essential for smooth learning of first year content pertaining to Discrete Statistics.

Need: To clear their basic concepts of Statistics

Contents:

  • Introduction to Statistics, Population and Sample, Collection of Data
  • Classification and Tabulation.
  • Diagrammatic representation  -Bar diagram ,Pie diagram.
  •

Outcome: The learners were very happy with the Bridge Course Classes .Many concepts of Statistics got clear in lectures and this will help students to understand the content mentioned in SEM-1.

STUDENT SEMINARS:

Student Seminars allows students to gain a better understanding of the material and to develop their research, presentation, and critical thinking skills. Students become more confident and independent. Attending a seminar has numerous benefits, including improving communication skills, gaining expert knowledge, networking with others and renewing motivation and confidence. Additionally, attending seminars can also help students to network with their peers and instructors, and to learn about current research and developments in their field of study.

* The students are encouraged to take up Statistics for their higher education.

* A timetable is framed for the M.Sc classes and syllabus is designed.

* Giving notes and material to Students  along with explanation for M.Sc entrance examinations in

Statistics.

  • Simple or complex statistical problems can be simulated, edited and solved individually with the Statistical Lab. It can be extended by using external libraries. Via these libraries, it can also be adapted to individual and local demands like specific target groups. The versatile graphical diagrams allow demonstrative visualization of underlying data.
  • focused on providing facilities for users with little statistical experience.
  • It combines data frames, contingency tables, random numbers, matrices in a user friendly virtual worksheet. This worksheet allows users to explore the possibilities of calculations, analysis, simulations and manipulation of data.
  • For mathematical calculations, the Statistical Lab uses the R package, which is a free implementation of the language S Plus.

WRITTEN TESTS:

  • Written tests are effective tools for assessing students’ understanding of subject matter. They evaluate how well students have grasped concepts, theories, and facts.
  • These tests allow instructors to gauge the depth of knowledge and retention of information.

  • Written exams provide an objective way to measure student performance. The questions are structured, and answers are evaluated based on predetermined criteria.
